story skipping and how to make up for it
So, it's kind of ironic since I am one of those people who are really judgmental about story skipping in general, but-
I bounced off of Arknights' story really hard. I blame some of this on it being a mobile game and the text being tiny, but also- I think it's just kind of hard to follow the format (says a TOTAL visual novel guy).
Are there other resources to get the summary at least? I think it might do me some good to get some investment in the main storyline, but are there good side stories to watch out for?

As far as really good side stories to watch out for—
Stuff related to main story:
- Darknights Memoir is hugely main story relevant and gives a lot of the backstory
- A Walk in the Dust (for the Kal'tsit lore)
- Vigilo (for the Doctor lore)
Stuff I just think is neat:
- Children of Ursus
- Dorothy's Vision
- Who Is Real
- Maria Nearl / Pinus Sylvestris / Near Light trilogy
Vignettes that continue on themes from main story:
- Crushed Earth
- Sword and Scale
- some of A Light Spark in Darkness
